Walt Fisher has been named Kern County’s Agriculturist of the Year and will be honored during “Salute to Agriculture,” an awards dinner to be held Thursday, Sept. 18 at the Kern County Fair.

Fisher, a fourth generation cattleman and farmer, has been involved in
leadership positions within the agricultural community for many years, said Katie Stotler, coordinator of this year’s “Salute to Agriculture” event.

The dinner is being sponsored by Jim Burke Ford and H.M. Holloway.
Locally, Fisher has helped with 4-H Club programs and served as a
director and past president of the Kern County Fair Board. He served as a director of both the California Cattleman’s Association and National
Cattleman’s Association.

Founder and president of Fisher Cattle Company, he also is a
founding partner of I & E Citrus Farms, which he continues to manage.

Fisher is a founding partner of Orange Grove R.V. Park in Edison. Among his many leadership positions in business include that of past director of Valencia Bank and Trust in Valencia and Gilkey Farms, Inc., in Corcoran.
